About First Monday Canton
First Monday Canton bills itself as the world’s largest flea market, and delivers on that promise once a month. Featuring more than 5,000 vendors, there’s something here for everyone. What’s more, the market has a long and storied history. First Monday Canton dates back to the 1850s, when the local circuit judge held court. It became a community event, giving birth to fledgling markets that ultimately evolved into today’s massive monthly fair. By 1965, First Monday was too large for the town square.
First Monday, paradoxically, never happens on a Monday. The name is a throwback to a bygone era. It now goes from Thursday through Sunday, beginning the first weekend of each month. Upcoming Spring dates include:

- April 2-April 5
- April 30-May 3
- May 28-May 31
Tips for Visiting the the World’s Largest Flea Market
So what can you find at the market? The short answer is a little bit of everything. From novice crafters to expert makers, there’s something for everyone, with artists and vendors of every skill level and interest coming together to share their love of all things crafty, antique, and unique. You’ll find plenty of folk art, as well as high-end art, lots of handmade goods, and tons of food.
To avoid crowds, consider shopping on Thursdays. There’s no need to pack a lunch. You’ll find plenty of food, from funnel cakes to diet-friendly nutrition. Vendors change from month to month, so for updates, follow the market’s blog or Facebook page.
